Miami, FL - The dentists as Smile South Florida Cosmetic Dentistry are known for their extreme makeovers of patients’ smiles.
Recently, the tables were turned as Smile South Florida’s main office in Broward County underwent an extreme makeover of its own.
One reason for the renovations was to update the dated peach and aqua “South Beach” look in the office. But Office Manager Marianne Taylor and her daughter Jessica Taylor, assistant office manager, also sought to create a “spa-like” atmosphere.
The mother and daughter team took on the role of interior decorators to create a calm, tranquil reception area that puts patients at ease the moment they enter.
So far, it’s working on the anxiety-ridden patients, as well as those Type A personalities.
“When people come in, they say that the area feels Zen-like,” said Marianne Taylor, who has worked with Dr. Charles Nottingham, a cosmetic dentist who is the senior partner of Smile South Florida, for 33 years. “The Type A personalities who come in here and are in such a hurry seem to relax once they pass through those doors.”
The project, which began a year ago, is in the third of four renovation stages, Taylor said. The first stage tackled the reception area renovation, which included transforming the circular room by painting the walls a soothing khaki color, installing dark walnut flooring and adding a small waterfall and new fabric to the seating area.
Stage two involved renovating Taylor’s office. Stage three begins soon, which includes renovating and installing travertine marble in all seven dental treatment rooms and renovating the patient restrooms. Stage four involves painting the main corridors, installing the dark walnut flooring in the hallways and renovating the doctors’ office, which is shared by Nottingham and his associates, which include a periodontist and eventually will include an endodontist.
Amidst these renovations, the Smile Gallery in the hallway was created, which features stunning before and after photos of patients, along with testimonials.
A refrigerator in Taylor’s office filled with drinks and snacks for patients is another touch she has added, she said.
“We do what it takes to make people feel comfortable and relax,” Taylor said. “They need to be treated special.”
